Oppo’s new ‘Infinity Loop’ skyscraper designed by Big revealed

Danish architecture studio BIG designed a new skyscraper building for well-known phone maker company Oppo, which is also China’s largest smartphone manufacturer. Names the O-Tower, it features an infinity loop that was designed to “connect ground to sky in a continuous loop of collaboration.” As per BIG, the building aligns with Oppo’s brand identity and vision.

BIG began working at the beginning of 2019 to create an R&D Headquarters and Masterplan. The design expresses OPPO’s mission of the elevation of life through technological artistry, with an overarching vision of being a sustainable company that contributes to a better world.

“Technology at its best should be a seamless extension of life. The new OPPO R&D headquarters embodies this notion, sitting with ease in the scenic wetlands of Hangzhou while negotiating between the dense urban fabric on one side and the natural landscape on the other […] It will be an architectural manifestation of an Oppo product: effortlessly elegant while elevating the quality of human life in the city”. – BIG partner Brian Yang.

The unique design of this building will allow it to provide various sizes of floor plans and plenty of natural light to come in while also blocking 52% of solar heat. Office floors will be triple-height and share wide open spaces with the sloping shape of the building. Amenities also mentioned including cafeterias, studios, and conference centers.

Oppo’s new headquarters building is currently under construction in Shenzhen, but there’s no completion date yet. Building is comprising of 4 towers, the tallest of which will be 42 stories high. Oppo’s new HQ campus was designed by Zaha Hadid and is expected to be complete in 2025.
