15G: Sub-6 vs mmWave
Sub-6 is the 5G you use daily — good speed, wide coverage. mmWave is ultra-fast but only works near dedicated antennas.
A
1AMOLED
Every pixel emits its own light, so blacks are truly black and contrast is effectively infinite. Uses less power with dark themes.
C
2Charging watts (W)
Peak charging power. 65W refills roughly half the battery in 15 minutes; sustained speed matters more than the headline number.
Chipset
The phone's brain — CPU, graphics and modem on one chip. It sets the ceiling for speed, camera processing and efficiency.
E
1eSIM
A SIM built into the phone. Add or switch plans in software — no physical card, and several profiles can live side by side.
G
1Gorilla Glass
Chemically strengthened cover glass that resists scratches and drops. Higher generations (Victus 2, Armor) survive rougher falls.
I
1IP68
Dust-tight and survives about 1.5 m of fresh water for 30 minutes. IP69 adds protection against high-pressure jets.
L
1LTPO
Panel tech that lets the refresh rate drop as low as 1Hz when the screen is static — big battery savings on always-on displays.
M
1mAh
Battery capacity. Bigger usually lasts longer, but the screen and chipset efficiency decide real-world endurance.
N
2NFC
The short-range chip behind tap-to-pay, transit cards and instant pairing. Essential for Google Wallet and Apple Pay.
Nits
Brightness unit. Around 1,000 nits stays readable in direct sunlight; peak numbers apply to small highlights in HDR video.
O
1OIS
Optical stabilisation — the lens physically counteracts hand shake for sharper low-light photos and steadier video.
P
1PWM dimming
How OLED screens dim by flickering. Higher PWM frequencies (1,920Hz+) are gentler on flicker-sensitive eyes.
R
2RAM
Working memory for open apps. 8 GB comfortably holds everyday multitasking; more mainly helps gaming and heavy camera use.
Refresh rate (Hz)
How many times per second the screen redraws. 120Hz feels twice as fluid as 60Hz when scrolling and gaming.
S
1Sensor size
The physical size of the camera sensor. Bigger sensors gather more light — the main reason flagship night shots look cleaner.
T
1Telephoto
A dedicated zoom lens. Optical zoom keeps full detail; digital zoom just crops the image and loses sharpness.
U
2UFS
The storage speed standard. UFS 4.0 installs apps and saves 4K video noticeably faster than UFS 2.2.
Ultrawide
A lens with a ~120° field of view for landscapes and tight interiors. Quality is usually a step below the main camera.
W
2Wi-Fi 7
The newest Wi-Fi standard. Lower latency and faster speeds on compatible routers; Wi-Fi 6E is still plenty for most homes.
Wireless charging
Charging by resting the phone on a Qi pad. Slower than wired; magnetic alignment (Qi2) makes it more reliable.
